Yesenia Lopez is a proud product of Chicago Public Schools, and her journey from CPS student to public servant shapes her deep commitment to educational equity and community advocacy. Raised in a working-class family, Yesenia knows firsthand the struggles many families face. She’s dedicated her career to ensuring that every student—regardless of zip code or background—has access to the resources they need to thrive.
Experience & Leadership:
- CPS Graduate: Valedictorian of Pickard Elementary and salutatorian of Benito Juárez High School.
- Public Servant: Worked with Governor Pritzker, Rep. Chuy García, and Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias to advocate for working families and students.
- Labor Endorsements: The only candidate in the race endorsed by labor unions, reflecting her commitment to the needs of working families.
